Summer job idea for teens: become an intern

The summer job I never thought I’d enjoy

I spent one summer as an “intern” at my uncle’s store, running errands, doing small odd jobs, learning the ropes. Back then, I thought it was a pretty boring way to spend my vacation, but when I think about it now, that summer job gave me the foundation for working in the real world. And as far as summer jobs went, the one I got was a pretty sweet deal altogether.

Working at the store gave me a good idea for a job that I’d like to have. The store was a pretty small operation, but it took a lot of work. I was usually the one sent to fetch stuff and deliver them from place to place, but later, my uncle and aunt showed me how to work the register, how to make an inventory, how the ledgers look like. I didn’t really know what that was for at the time, but those were fond memories.

Learning from the summer job

That summer job taught me the meaning of hard work, and the importance of being dedicated to the job. It doesn’t matter how big the task is, there’s always a way to get it done. I was too young to know it then, but that summer job at the store was one of the reasons why I started my own business. I like what I do, and it’s something that’s become very important to me. Who knew that a summer job could mean so much?
